TVersity Media Server Xbox 360 Patch Installing the Patch:
1. Stop Tversity
2. Extract the content of the patch zip file into the installation folder of TVersity (by default it is Program FilesTVersityMedia Server)
3. Start TVersity, go to the 360 and browse your computer for videos. You should now see all the videos shared via TVersity plus all the online video URLs and assuming your directshow has the filters needed to decode these videos they should all play on the 360.
Some additional notes:
* Videos may take from 10 seconds to a minute to start. It depends on the bitrate of the video. The 360 requires 2 Megabyte of data to be provided before it starts playback. For low bitrate content (like the stuff coming from the Net) it can take a minute to get to 2 Mbyte. For hi-def content it happens very fast.
* Transcoding in real time of high resolution material requires a very fast computer
* The quality of the result of the transcoding, can be controlled via the TVersity GUIl. Increasing the resolution will improve the quality but will require a faster machine. You can also experiment with the compression ratios and bitrates, these all affect the WMV transcoding just like they affect the MPEG transcoding that TVersity has been traditionally doing.
* You can even upconvert videos to HD if you wish and if you have a fast machine by tweaking the minVideoInfo in config.xml.
* If your computer is not fast enough, you can decrease the resolution and then try again or wait till the transcoding is done and then play it.
* Transcoded videos cannot be FF/Rewind during the transcoding (this is a 360 limitation) however after transcoding is done if you play some other video and then go back to the transcoded one, you will be able to seek in the file.
* It is highly recommended to upgrade to Windows Media Player 11 as it includes more recent and more stable encoders.

360 Media Server v0.0.2 Tawsi released a new version of 360 Media Server, a upnp media server designed for streaming music to the Xbox 360. It is capable of transcoding many non supported formats including AAC, Ogg and Flac as well as the formats the 360 already supports (MP3 and WMA). Also capable of reading iTunes XML. It's working on Windows, Mac and Linux.
Windows:
To run this you need to obtain the following files
lame.exe - mp3 encoder binary
oggdec.exe or sox.exe (with ogg support) - ogg decoder (if you plan on using ogg support), can also use sox
faad.exe - faad2 aac decoder binary
flac.exe - flac decoder
copy the exe files into scriptdir to start the server click run start.bat

HDDHackr v0.91 HDDHacker is a pc utility which will allow you to use HDD's that are not 'certified' by Microsoft. This specific tool is written for use with the Western Digital BEVS series only!
It's based on MAME 0.112 and is fairly easy to keep up-to-date (doesn't need any messing around with like Mameox on the xbox).
Originally it was based on SDLMAME but I've since ported a 360 specific osd layer (so SDL for the 360 exists - as an aside I also have a port of ScummVM in the works too).
Mame doesn't include any dynarec cpu emulation on anything other than an x86 platform. So any game that is PSX or N64 based for example doesn't run at all well.
Most other stuff (that I've tried) runs pretty well.
At the moment it will only run on 360 dev/debug/test kits. Whether it will ever run on a hacked retail box remains to be seen.
Xbox360 Backwards Compatibility Update 1 The zip-file contains one 2.5MB .xex file (which will give BC-support for over 200 games!), that's an Xbox 360 executable (like .xbe for the original Xbox). Once burned on CD-R or DVD+-R you'll be able to run the update on your 360 from the CD/DVD.
